Cabinet decision: 3 new directorates to come up in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Odisha will soon have three separate directorates for museums, archaeology and public libraries in the state.

The state Cabinet headed by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today approved separate proposals in this regard.

The Cabinet gave its nod for creation of Directorate of Museum in Odisha for preservation, research and publicity of rich heritage of cultural as well as artistic artifacts, said Chief Secretary PK Jane while briefing the media.

As per the Cabinet decision, the state government will create Directorate of Archaeology for preservation, protection and publicity of ancient temples and monuments in Odisha.

The state government will also create Directorate of Public Libraries for better management of Harekrushna Mahtab State Library, libraries functioning in different districts and blocks. The Cabinet has given its approval in this regard, said the Chief Secretary.

The Cabinet also approved creation of various posts for the three new directorates, he added.
