Kidnapped businessman rescued in Odisha’s Sambalpur

Sambalpur: A day after being kidnapped,  63-year-old businessman Naresh Agrawal of Bareipali in the district was rescued safely by police near Sasan police station in wee hours today.

However, the abductors managed to escape the police dragnet. Further investigation is underway in connection with the incident,  informed the district SP.

Last evening, the businessman was allegedly kidnapped at gunpoint by three persons when he had gone to Sasan to take stock of boundary construction work on a patch of his land. When he was overseeing the work, three persons came in a car at around 12.20 PM and punctured the wheels of the businessman’s car. They threatened Agrawal with a gun and later kidnapped him in their car.

Acting on a complaint lodged by the driver of the businessman, police registered a case and swung into action by conducting raids at various places. The cops rescued the man in wee hours today, sources said.
