Minor boy’s death inside dhaba: Tension continues; ambulance driver, 2 cops detained

Balasore: Tension continues to prevail in Baliapal area of Balasore district today after the body of a minor boy was found hanging inside a dhaba, he had been working in, in the locality yesterday.

Today morning, irate locals detained the driver of an ambulance and two police staff near at Uluda Chhak on Kamarda-Baliapal road protesting post-mortem of the body in the absence of his family members.

Sources said the district Magistrate had yesterday ordered post-mortem of the body. But police did not take the body for the same since it was already 5 PM by the time. When the cops conducted the autopsy early this morning, locals staged the protest.

Demanding Rs 20 lakh compensation for family of the deceased and immediate arrest of the culprit in the ‘murder’, irate locals also staged road blockade at Uluda Chhak. Vehicular movement in the locality has been disrupted due to the protest.

Yesterday, the angry locals had gheraoed and thrashed the IIC of Baliapal police station when he reached the spot to probe the minor’s death.  They had also ransacked the hotel and later staged a road blockade by burning tyres on the road.

Worth mentioning, a minor boy identified as Bijaya Dalai of Bhogarai area, was found hanging from the ceiling of a dhaba near IDCO Chhak on Baliapal-Basta road yesterday morning.
