Minor girl scalded by hot dal dies while undergoing treatment in Odisha’s Gajapati

Mohana: A girl aged around five years was earlier scalded by hot dal on April 16 evening at a government-run Ashram School in Damadua village under Mohana block in Gajapati district. The victim succumbed today while undergoing treatment in Cuttack SCB Hospital (SCBMCH) in critical condition.

According to a source, the minor victim had gone to the Ashram School along with her mother on the intervening evening. Her mother works as a cook in the residential school. Accidentally, the girl fell into a cauldron containing hot dal. The minor sustained grievous injuries and became critical.

The injured was rescued by her family and immediately admitted to a hospital in Mohana for treatment in critical condition. Later, she was shifted to the SCBMCH after her condition deteriorated.

The girls’ body was carried to her native place and was cremated in the village later in the day. Views of the Ashram School authorities on this fatal incident could not be obtained despite attempts.
