Moist dump recovered near forest bordering Odisha-Chhattisgarh in Malkangiri

Mathili: A team of special operation group (SOG) and district voluntary force (DVF) personnel recovered a Maoist dump near a forest bordering Odisha-Chhattisgarh in Malkangiri district, yesterday. This was informed today by police through a press release.

Acting on specific information received, an intensive search by the DVF and SOG jawans was carried out in the general area under Mathili police limits, resulting in the uncovering of a major Maoist dump near the forest area between Tulasi and Kirimiti villages at around 4.30 PM, an official said today.

This has led to the recovery and seizure of huge quantities of arms and ammunition, IEDs, and other articles. It is suspected that these articles were intended to target civilians and security forces in the future.

“This is a major jolt to the subversive and anti-national design of Maoists in this area. We suspect that these explosives along with other articles belong to the Maoist cadres of the Dandakaranya Special Zonal Committee (DKSZC) and they were intended to be used against innocent civilians and security forces to carry out their subversive, anti-national activities and to show their presence again in this area. In the wake of recovery, further combing and search operations are going on,” the official stated.
