Odisha: DAV Public School bus catches fire in Konark; students unhurt

Konark: Students of the Konark-DAV Public School escaped safely after their school bus caught fire on Konark-Gop road in Puri district today.

The incident occurred while the school bus was moving to Begunia Chhak to pick up students.

According to reports, the fire broke out in one of the wheels. A local noticed the fire in the wheel following which he chased the bus to inform the driver about the incident.

“While I was traveling near Medical Chhak, I saw a tyre of the school bus was burning. I started chasing the bus from there and stopped it on the road. Even the school bus staff were not aware of the fire,” said the local.

As many as seven students were inside the school bus. On learning about the fire, the bus driver immediately stopped the vehicle and managed to rescue the students without delay.

The fire services personnel rushed to the site to bring the fire under control.
