Odisha: Decomposed body of youth found with injury marks in Bhubaneswar; murder suspected

Bhubaneswar: A youth was found dead today while lying in an under-construction and open drain with injury marks on his face near Naka Gate under Bharatpur police limits in Bhubaneswar. The youth’s body has decomposed. However, some locals suspected it to be a case of murder.

Identity of the deceased has not been ascertained yet, a senior police official said.

According to a source, some locals spotted the body while lying under mysterious circumstances and informed police. Later, a team of cops from Bharatpur PS reached the spot and seized the body. Police have registered a case in this connection and launched a probe into the suspicious death.

“A small mobile phone was spotted near the youth’s body,” a woman slum dweller expressed.

“Drug users frequently come to this area. However, finding a body on the opposite side of the wall seems suspicious. How could someone manage to climb such a high wall and cross over in an inebriated condition?” some locals questioned.

“It appears to be a case of murder, but not a case of death by suicide,” the locals added.

Prima facie evidence suggests that the youth might have died two to three days ago.

“Exact cause of the youth’s death can be confirmed only after a post-mortem report comes in. We are probing the case from both suicide and murder angles,” the senior cop from Bharatpur PS stated.
