Odisha: Miscreants steal money from donation box at Gupteswar cave shrine

Bhubaneswar: Unidentified miscreants reportedly stole money from one of the donation boxes of famous Gupteswar cave shrine in Odisha’s Koraput district yesterday night.

The miscreants stole the money by damaging the lock of a donation box put up near the main gate of the shrine, sources said.

The incident came to the fore when a youth engaged at a ticket counter of the shrine spotted the damaged lock today morning.

A priest of the temple informed the incident to the Endowment department and local police.

The police have visited the spot and launched a probe into the incident.

It is worth mentioning here that the state government has sanctioned Rs 20 crore for the development of the cave shrine, located in Boipariguda block of Koraput.

As per the plan, the shrine will be transformed into a famous religious, historical and tourism spot without disturbing the natural ecology.
