Vanity bag snatchers arrested in Odisha capital, huge items recovered

Bhubaneswar: Denizens in the Odisha capital can now heave a shy of relief as vanity bag snatchers have been apprehended by Twin City Commissionerate police.

The Capital Police today forwarded three accused following their arrest yesterday.

According to police, these three vanity bag snatchers were active in the city since long and have committed dozens of cases for which at lease eight cases are pending at various police stations in the city.

The investigators put a mobile phone number under surveillance after a victim lodged complaint of snatching. One Pratyush Khatua alias Lucky was apprehended from Itipur near Dhauli police station. Khatua’s intense interrogation led to arrest of two more persons – Trilochan Nath alias Chuian and Susanta Moharana alias Tapu.

As many as 30 vanity bags, 14 mobile phones, jewellery and a motorcycle were recovered from their possession. They used to hide the bounty at an abandoned house in Palaspalli area.

They were forwarded to court today.
