2 dead, pregnant woman critical in motorcycle-tanker collision in Odisha’s Jajpur

Jajpur: Two persons were killed and a pregnant woman sustained grievous injuries as the motorcycle on which they were travelling had a head-on collision with an oil tanker near Baruhan Chhak on NH-20 under Sadar police limits in Jajpur district, today.

The identities of the two deceased and injured persons have not been ascertained yet.

According to a source, a woman died on the spot and a youth driving the ill-fated two-wheeler died in a nearby health facility while undergoing treatment, the eyewitness expressed.

On being informed by some locals, Sadar police reached the accident site and sent the injured to the district headquarters hospital (DHH) in Jajpur town for treatment. Police have registered a case in this connection and initiated a probe into the road mishap.

The bodies were sent to the DHH for post-mortem and a report is awaited.

“A detailed investigation will help ascertain how the road mishap occurred,” a senior policeman said.
