BJD not just a political party, but people’s movement: Odisha CM

Bhubaneswar: Biju Janata Dal (BJD) supremo and Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today asserted that his party has now become a people’s movement and is not dependent on anyone including him for growth and survival.

Addressing party workers and leaders during the party’s 23rd foundation day celebration at its headquarter in Bhubaneswar, Patnaik said, “Biju Janata Dal is not a political party and it is not dependant on some or other leaders including me for its survival and growth.”

Four and half crores of people are his family and he is working 365 days to win their hearts with better services, said Patnaik, adding that BJD has become an identity of Odisha’s development.

Quoting legendary leader and his father Biju Patnaik, the Chief Minister said, “Do not be loyal to me but be loyal to the cause of Odisha’s destiny.” BJD has become a movement of four and half crores of people for empowerment and development, Patnaik added.

He congratulated BJD activists and leaders for their dedication and sacrifice which act as ‘oxygen’ to provide energy to the party.
