Close shave for woman after being dragged by speeding truck in Odisha’s Sundargarh

Sundargarh: A middle-aged woman had a narrow escape as the scooter on which she was travelling was dragged today up to quite a long distance by a coal-laden truck after a head-on collision at Balijori Chhak near Ib river on Sundargarh-Hemagir road in this district, today.

The woman scooter rider sustained grievous injuries in the road mishap. She has been identified as Nabina Oram from Rajpur village under Sadar police limits in the district.

According to an eyewitness, the woman was on her way from Sundargarh town to the village when she met with an accident. Driver of the speeding truck (registration number OD-16 A-6860) was talking over his mobile phone while driving leading to the road mishap.

The truck driver lost control of the vehicle and hit the scooter (registration number OD-16 L-2398).

Some locals rescued the injured in critical condition and admitted her to the district headquarters hospital (DHH) in Sundargarh for treatment. On being informed by locals, Town police reached the spot and launched a probe which is underway, a senior official expressed.
