COVID-19 pandemic: This Odisha district declares two-day shutdown

Sambalpur: With an aim to contain the spread of COVID-19, the Sambalpur district administration today decided to impose a two-day shutdown in the district.

Sambalpur District Collector Shubham Saxena declared there will be shutdown in the district on July 11 and 12. People of the district have been advised to stay home during the shutdown.

Barring emergency services, public transport and private vehicles movement will be stopped. All shops and business establishments expect medicine shops will remain closed.

The district administration said stringent action will be taken against those who will violate the shutdown guidelines.

A total of 108 persons in the district contracted the deadly virus so far. While 58 patients have recovered, the number of active cases stands at 50.
