Cyclone to make landfall by May 26 midnight; Check rainfall forecast for Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Forecasted Cyclone Remal over the Bay of Bengal is likely to make landfall between Sagar Island and Khepupara by 26th May midnight, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasted.

The predicted cyclonic storm is likely to cross Bangladesh and adjoining West Bengal coasts between Sagar Island and Khepupara by 26th May midnight as a Severe Cyclonic Storm with wind speed of 110-120 gusting to 135 kmph, the agency said.

Though the cyclone will not affect Odisha significantly, light to moderate rainfall at most places with isolated heavy rainfall is likely to occur over north coastal Odisha on 25th and 26th May, the IMD predicted.

Wind warning for Odisha

Squally wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph is likely along and off Bangladesh, West Bengal and adjoining north Odisha coasts from 25th May evening.

Sea condition

Rough to very rough sea condition is likely along and off north Odisha coast from 25th May evening to 27th May morning.
