Five from Odisha killed in road mishap in Darjeeling

Bhubaneswar: In a tragic incident, five persons from Odisha including three women were killed after a vehicle they were travelling in fell off a ghat at Kalimpong in Darjeeling of West Bengal today afternoon.

The deceased were identified as Abhijit Ratho, Sulochana Panda, Shakuntala Nanda, Chandra Sekhar Nanda and Sabita Nanda.

The vehicle was on its way to Siliguri from Gangtok. Driver of the vehicle lost control of it at a sharp turn at Kalimpong ghat, following which it skidded off the road and fell into a 100-feet deep ditch. While five persons died on the spot, three others sustained critical injuries.
