Low pressure to form over Odisha, rainfall likely to lash these districts

Bhubaneswar: A low pressure area is likely to form over coastal Odisha and neighbourhood during next 48 hours, which will trigger rainfall over several districts of the state, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.

“A cyclonic circulation lies over Northwest Bay of Bengal adjoining Coastal Odisha & Gangetic West Bengal and extends 7.6 km above mean sea level tilting southwards with height. Under its influence, a low pressure area is likely to form over Coastal Odisha & neighbourhood during next 48 hours,” a bulletin of the IMD issued at 1.15 pm said.

On the other hand, the Regional Meteorological Centre today issued thunderstorm warning for as many as 19 districts today.

Thunderstorm with lightning and light to moderate rainfall are likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Jharsuguda, Angul, Dhenkanal, Balasore, Bhadrak, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Malkangiri, Rayagada, Ganjam, Gajapati, Nayagarh and Khordha between 1.30 pm and 4.30 pm, the Regional Meteorological Centre forecasted.
