Man hangs self after ailing wife’s death in Odisha’s Balangir

Kantabanji: Unable to bear pain following wife’s death, a man died by suicide at Kantabanji area in Balangir district of Odisha.

The deceased person has been identified as Godhan Mallick. The incident took place at Dabari village under Kantabanji police limits.

Sources said that Godhan’s wife Chandrakala was suffering from kidney related ailment. He spent a lot of money for her treatment but failed to save her life. His wife died last night. Hours after her death, the grieving husband reportedly hanged self from a tree at his farmland in the wee hours of today.

“His wife had kidney failure, but he kept her under treatment till her last breath. She died at around 11 pm on Sunday. Mourning the death of his wife, he took extreme step to end his life,” said Champesar Nag, a former Ward Member of the village.
