Minutes before night curfew, youth injured in attack on busy road in Odisha Capital

Bhubaneswar: When the Twin City Commissionerate Police was gearing up to impose night curfew from 8 PM today, a youth was beaten mercilessly on a busy road near Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar.

The incident has raised eyebrows among many as around 20 youth thrashed a motorcycle-borne youth, some 10-feet distance from a traffic post which is usually manned by police personnel.

Eyewitnesses said around 20 youth attacked the motorcyclist and beaten him mercilessly all of a sudden. When the local came to the rescue of the victim, the attackers fled the spot. The victim’s two-wheeler has been also damaged.

The victim in critical condition was rushed to the Capital Hospital by police with the help of locals.

After being informed, the ACP reached the spot. Police official sources said investigation is on the basis of CCTV footage. Identity of the youth is yet to be known.

Worth mentioning, the night curfew in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack will be imposed as per the decision of the State government from 8 PM to 5 AM from today. The Commissionerate Police has been on toes for the revised night curfew timings for next 10 days.
