Newly-formed Justice Pasayat-led panel on Ratna Bhandar inventory to meet on March 9

Bhubaneswar: The high-level committee, constituted by the Odisha government to supervise preparation for Jagannath temple Ratna Bhandar inventory, is scheduled to hold its first meeting at Puri on March 9.

Former Supreme Court Justice Arijit Pasayat, the chairman of the committee, will preside over the meeting. All members of the panel will remain present at the meet.

The committee will look into the present status of Ratna Bhandar and supervise preparation for the inventory of its valuables, sources said.

“Justice Arijit Pasayat will reach Puri in the morning of March 9 and visit the 12th century shrine before presiding over the meeting in the afternoon,” said a source.

Notably, the state government today formed a 12-member committee for monitoring the process for inventory of valuables stored at Ratna Bhandar. Eminent doctor Ramakanta Panda is the vice-chairman of the high-level panel.

The Orissa High Court had earlier directed the state government to constitute a high-level committee for supervising the preparation for Ratna Bhandar inventory.

It is worth mentioning here that the last inventory of the temple treasury had been conducted in 1978.
