Odisha: Diesel engine pulls ‘damaged’ Vande Bharat Express towards Howrah

Bhubaneswar: The Railway authorities deployed a diesel engine to pull Puri-Howrah Vande Bharat Express (22896) that got stranded midway after suffering partial damage due to Nor’wester near Baitarani road in Jajpur district of Odisha today afternoon.

The front glass of the indigenously-developed semi high speed train got damaged when a tree uprooted by the Nor’wester fell on it. Besides, the train also developed some other minor glitches. Moreover, the overhead power cables got snapped due to the Nor-wester, sources said.

The Railway authorities deployed a diesel engine to pull the Vande Bharat Express towards Howrah. The train resumed its journey at around 9 pm, said a source.

Notably, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had flagged off the Puri-Howrah Vande Bharat Express through virtual mode recently.
