Odisha Govt hikes remuneration of Art instructors, PETs, PHIEVs, multilingual education teachers

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Government today hiked the remuneration of Art instructors, Physical Education Teachers (PETs), PHIEVs and multilingual education teachers to Rs 10,000.

As per a release from the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), the remuneration of Art instructors and PETs engaged at upper primary schools increased to Rs 10,000 from Rs 7,000.

The Art and PE teachers will receive monthly remuneration for 12 months instead of 10 months, announced Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

As per the announcement, the teachers will take 30-period classes instead of 24-period classes in a month. Besides, like other Government employees, the women Art and PE teachers can avail the maternity leave if required.

With the decision, a total of 4,605 Art teachers will be benefitted in the state.

Also, the State Government announced to increase the remuneration of PHIEVs (Inclusive Education Volunteer for physically handicapped children) and multilingual education teachers to Rs 10,000.

As per the release, the PHIEVs and multilingual education teachers will get a hike in remuneration from Rs 5,379 to Rs 10,000 per month.

The PHIEVs are engaged at different Gram Panchayats since 2014 to impart special education and service to physically disabled children studying at various schools in the state. With this move, 1,117 PHIEVs will be benefitted in the state.

Besides, the CM directed to regularise the multilingual education teachers working in schools for tribal and SC students under ST & SC Development, Minorities & Backward Classes Welfare Department on basis of their eligibility.
