Odisha JE runs away when Vigilance team visit residence for raid

Bhubaneswar: A dramatic incident occurred during the process of conducting a raid on Junior Engineer Sunil Kumar Padhy on the allegation of possession of disproportionate assets as the ‘corrupt’ official allegedly fled from his residence on seeing a Vigilance team.

According to reports, Sunil Padhy, who is the Junior Engineer of Rural Water Supply and Sanitation (RWSS) in Bhubaneswar, went to the terrace of his house and ran away by jumping to a nearby building at Jagamara area when the Vigilance team knocked the door of his house in the morning.

The Vigilance sleuths including 6 DSPs, 3 Inspectors, 7 ASIs conducted simultaneous raids on properties belonging to the RWSS JE at five places in Bhubaneswar and Ganjam today to unearth assets that are disproportionate to his known sources of income.

Till the last report came in, the raids were being conducted at a triple-storey building at Jagamara in Bhubaneswar, a market complex at Aska in Ganjam district, a paternal house at Sunambo street, Aska, a house of his relative located at Bhanjanagar and his office chamber in Bhubaneswar.
