Odisha: Work on second campus of Acharya Harihar cancer hospital to begin soon

Cuttack: Construction of the second campus building of the Acharya Harihar Regional Cancer Centre (AHRCC) will begin soon. This was informed by Odisha Health Minister Naba Das at the hospital’s governing body meeting today.

This apart, number of beds at the cancer hospital will be increased to 425 and a new intensive care unit (ICU) will be established in its premises.

The minister further said the government has already taken steps to address the issue of doctor shortage and new doctors will be recruited soon.

The Acharya Harihar Regional Cancer is one of the 25 prominent cancer hospitals in the country. Established on February 1, 1981, the cancer hospital was initially operating at the Radiotherapy department of SCB Medical College and Hospital. Later the cancer centre was given autonomous status on April 24, 1984.
