Bhubaneswar: Even as the skyrocketing fuel prices have triggered widespread protest across the country, the price of petrol has touched Rs 100-mark in Odisha burning deep holes in the pockets of common man.
Petrol price has reached record high of Rs 100.29 (premium) and Rs 97.14 (normal petrol) per litre in Kalimela block of Malkangiri district. The price is nearing Rs 100 in several other parts of the state.
Price of petrol in different parts of the state today:
Berhampur (Ganjam): Rs 92.89
Joda (Keonjhar): Rs 93.45
Balangir: Rs 93.19
Nabarangpur: Rs 95.51
Phulbani (Kandhamal): Rs 93.07
Padampur (Bargarh): Rs 93.14
Sambalpur: Rs 92.21
Rourkela (Sundargarh): Rs 92.58
Jajpur: Rs 91.82
Jharsuguda: Rs 91.68
Balasore: Rs 91.65
In Twin City of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, petrol is priced at Rs 91.66 and Rs 91.95, respectively.
Fuel price hike today rocked the Budget Session of the state Legislative Assembly today with Opposition creating ruckus over the issue. As a mark of protest, CMLAs Suresh Routray, Tara Prasad Bahinipati and Adhiraj Panigrahy today rode bicycle to the Assembly as a mark of protest against the rising prices of fuel.
