Southwest monsoon subdued in Odisha; dry weather very likely to prevail during next 5 days

Bhubaneswar: With the southwest monsoon being subdued, dry weather is very likely to prevail in the districts of Odisha during the next five days, India Meteorological Department (IMD) regional centre in Bhubaneswar forecasted today.

Temperature Forecast- No major change will be there in both Maximum and Minimum temperatures over the districts of Odisha during next five days. The Maximum temperature is very likely to be above normal by 2oC to 3oC at many places over the districts of Odisha during the next five days.

In its mid-day bulletin, the IMD said, “The line of withdrawal of Southwest Monsoon continues to pass through 27.0°N/85.0°E, Raxaul, Daltonganj, Kanker, Ramagundam, Bijapur, Vengurla and 16.0°N/70.0°E. Conditions are favourable for further withdrawal of Southwest Monsoon from some more parts of Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh; some parts of Gangetic West Bengal & Odisha; some more parts of Karnataka and remaining parts of Telangana, Maharashtra and Central Arabia Sea during next 2 days.”

The highest maximum (day) temperature of 37.0°C was recorded at Chandbali and the lowest minimum (night) temperature of 19.8°C was recorded at Phulbani in the plains of Odisha.
