Two dead in wall collapse in Odisha’s Sambalpur

Kuchinda: Two persons including a woman died after the wall of a house collapsed at Bijadihi village under Kuchinda police limits in Odisha’s Sambalpur district today.

The deceased persons have been identified as Namita Patel, owner of the house, and Lalit Dehury, a labourer of Kindira village.

According to reports, Namita had engaged Lalita Dehury in the demolition work of the wall of her old house. The tragic incident occurred between 7 and 7.30 am on Friday.

Sources said that as the wall was poor, it fell on both the house owner and the labourer.

The family members rescued the duo and rushed to the Kuchinda Sub-Divisional Hospital where the doctors declared them dead.

“Namita was destroying the wall of the house after removing asbestos. The middle wall had cracks. While the duo was standing beside the damaged wall for demolition, it suddenly collapsed on them. Both died on the spot,” said deceased woman’s father Arun Kumar Patel.
