Woman hacks husband to death over fight with paramour in Odisha

Baripada: In a shocking incident, police have arrested a woman along with her brother in-law on the charge of killing her husband over a fight in Udala in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district today. The deceased was identified as Raisen Murmu, and the accused his wife Pana Murmu and brother Chandramohan Hembram of Nayarangamatia village within Udala police limits.

As per reports, locals were observing Jahira puja in the village on Monday night. Amid the festivities, Raisen was late in getting chicken for the rituals. When he turned up, brother Chandramohan got into an argument with him over the delay. When Pana intervened, she took Chandramohan’s side instead of her husband. As the spat turned uglier, Pana in a fit of rage took a wooden plank and hacked Raisen to death. Sources said Pana was having an extra-marital affair with Chandramohan and hence, supported him in the fight.

Udala police on getting information reached the spot and arrested the two accused. The body has been seized for postmortem and case registered.
