Won’t fight 2024 election on Congress ticket, says MLA Sura Rautray’s son

Bhubaneswar: MLA Suresh Kumar Rautray’s son Manmmath Rautray today revealed that he would not fight 2024 Assembly election from Jatni constituency in Odisha on a Congress ticket.

The Jatni legislator had earlier announced that he would take retirement from electoral politics in 2024 and his younger son Manmmath would fight the Assembly election on a Congress ticket from his constituency.

“I have decided not to fight the election from Jatni on a Congress ticket in 2024. I have taken the decision after conducting a survey in Jatni. I will reveal my future course of action in October this year. I may contest the election from any other party,” said Manmmath, a trained pilot.

Manmmath, however, said his father might not vote for him if he would fight the election from any other party.

“My father is a staunch Congress man. He has been associated with the grand old party for last several decades. He will not even vote for me if I contest from any other party,” Manmmath said.

However, the Congress legislator said he would talk to his son on the issue. “Manmmath will fight the election on Congress ticket. I will talk to him,” he added.
