2 drug peddlers nabbed with 1.6 gm brown sugar in Odisha’s Balasore

Both Raju and Amzad were nabbed after they could not produce any valid authority in support of possession of the contraband

Balasore: A team of Special Task Force (STF) Bhubaneswar along with Balasore Police arrested two persons on the charge of drug peddling from Balasore railway station under Sahadevkhunta police limits in the district on Monday. The accused were identified as Sk Raju and Amzad Khan, both from Sahadevkhunta area of Balasore district.

Police said the raid was carried out on the basis of intelligence input and contraband including 1.6 kg brown sugar, one Hero CD Delux M/C and other incriminating materials were seized from the possession of the accused. Both Raju and Amzad were nabbed after they could not produce any valid authority in support of possession of the contraband. They have been arrested and forwarded to the court of the District and Sessions cum Special Judge, Balasore. A case under section 21 (c)/29 of NDPS Act 1985 has been registered and further investigation is underway.

Official sources said a special drive against narcotic drugs is continuing and the STF has seized more than 60 kg of brown sugar /heroin, 202 gram cocaine and more than 111 quintal of ganja/marijuana and 750 gm opium since 2020. More than 162 drug dealers and peddlers have been arrested during this period.
