Bar Council of India revokes suspension of Sambalpur Bar Association lawyers

Sambalpur: The Bar Council of India (BCI) has revoked the suspension of members of Sambalpur Bar Association who were allegedly involved in vandalism on the premises of the district court on December 12.

However, the 54 lawyers, whose practice licenses were suspended for 18 months, remain suspended.

The accused lawyers had allegedly resorted to vandalism inside the chamber of a district judge.

They were agitating over demand of establishment of Orissa High Court’s permanent bench in Sambalpur.

The Central Action Committee of All Bar Associations of Western Odisha has already suspended the agitation.
