Bhubaneswar: Bomb hurled in front of BJD office in Nayapalli

Bhubaneswar: Unidentified miscreants allegedly hurled crude bomb in front of BJD office at Gadasahi in Nayapalli area of Odisha capital on Thursday night.

Fortunately, there were no casualties, but a motorcycle was completely burnt. The incident has left the residents of the locality panic-stricken.

Nayapalli police, on being informed, reached the spot and started investigation into the matter. Efforts were on by cops to identify the accused.

On the other hand, the BJD workers alleged that the bombing was carried out by members of opposition party.

As per reports, the incident took place at around midnight when more than 20 workers of the party were having a meeting at the office.

The blast was so intense that it shook the entire locality. According to a BJD worker, two men on a motorcycle were seen fleeing the scene, and it is believed that they threw the bomb.

Initial reports suggest that the bomb was thrown at the motorcycle rather than the office building itself, averting what could have been a major mishap. A party worker said that if the bomb had exploded inside the office, it would have caused significant damage.

This attack comes just two days after a confrontation between BJD and BJP workers in Nayapalli. It remains unclear whether the bombing was related to that dispute.
