BJP frames ‘chargesheet’ against Odisha govt; BJD reacts

Bhubaneswar: Upping its ante against the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) in Odisha, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today claimed that it has framed a 108-point ‘chargesheet’ against the state government.

The chargesheet has been framed to highlight the failure of the BJD government and also the ‘massive irregularities’ committed by it, said senior BJP leader and Leader of Opposition (LoP) in Odisha Assembly Jayanarayan Mishra.

Mining scam and issues related to Jagannath temple Ratna Bhandar (treasury) have found places in the chargesheet, he said.  “Issues related to the 5T Secretary’s visit to various districts of Odisha and allegations regarding the undue favour shown towards some people from Tamil Nadu have also been included in the chargesheet,” he added.

The BJP will launch a series of agitation to make people aware of the corruption happening in all districts of the state, Mishra said.

In his reaction, BJD leader and former minister Debi Prasad Mishra downplayed the allegations made by the BJP against the state government. “The opposition party is making all these false allegations to attract voters ahead of the General and Assembly elections. The BJD government under the leadership of Naveen Patnaik is committed to the all-round development of Odisha,” said the BJD leader.

BJD leader and Rairakhol MLA Rohit Pujari, however, slammed the LoP for levelling allegations against the state government. “Jayanarayan Mishra seems to be actually speaking about the chargesheets filed against him in 16 cases of crime. He has been involved in several criminal cases including assault on an on-duty woman police officer. We do not want to comment on his mental health but appeal to the media people to keep safe distance from him while taking his bytes,” said Pujari in twitter (X) posts.
