BJP to form government in Odisha: Rajnath Singh

Nabarangpur: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will form the government in Odisha, said Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, who is on one-day trip to the state on Thursday.

“Odisha also needs a double-engine government. According to political analysts, we will form the government in Odisha this time,” the Union Minister said while addressing the party workers at the Karyakarta Sammelan in Nabarangpur district today.

Targeting the Congress party, he said that the Congress might have laid several foundation stones in Odisha during its tenure. However, the BJP Government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi lays the foundation stones and inaugurates the projects as well.

“The number of medical colleges and engineering institutions has increased in Odisha during our government at the Centre,” he said.

In his address, he said, “I share a very emotional bonding with Odisha as I had started Bharat Suraksha Yatra from the land of Lord Jagannath in Odisha when I was the BJP’s National President in 2006.”

“During those periods, there were incidents of bomb blasts in some cities every day. The terrorism was at the peak and the Maoists were also dominating in many states of the country. That Bharat Suraksha Yatra gave me the opportunity to visit many districts of Odisha when the Congress Government was at the Centre. However, our government led by PM Narendra Modi took effective action against terrorism,” he said.

He said, “We do what we say. We had said that Article 370 will be abolished in Jammu and Kashmir. We did it. We have abolished the evil practice of triple talaq. We had said that we will build a grand temple in Ayodhya. Today a grand temple has been built in Ayodhya.”

He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi should be congratulated as he has done what nobody else has been able to do.

“Congress has cheated the people of the country. The party gave slogan ‘Garib Hatao’, but the poverty increased. Whereas Modi lifted 25 Crore people from the BPL list in past 9 years.

“For us, people are God. But, for Congress, one family is God,” he said.

“We do not do politics on the basis of caste, creed or religion. Rather, we do politics of justice and humanity. We do politics to build the nation,” he said.

The senior BJP leader exhorted the party workers to dedicate 12 hours out of 24 hours to party and nation building.

“Do visit houses, meet the beneficiaries to make them aware about the government schemes,” he said.
