Chhattisgarh Axis Bank staff killed by lover in Odisha’s Balangir, two arrested

The arrests were made based on a complaint filed by the family of the deceased with Raipur police after Tanu went missing on November 21.

Kantabanji: Police has arrested two persons for their alleged involvement in the murder of woman whose half-decomposed body was recovered a few days back from a jungle near Turekela College in Balangir district of Odisha. The deceased was identified as Tanu Kure, an Axis bank staff in Moa Raipur in Chhattisgarh.

The arrests were made based on a complaint filed by the family of the deceased with Raipur police after Tanu went missing on November 21. As her body  was found in Turekela area three days later, police had started an investigation during which it came to the fore that Tanu was having an affair with one Sachin Agarwal of Kantabanji.

The duo’s relationship reportedly was going through a rough patch as Sachin was upset over another guy calling up Tanu regularly. On November 24, he took Tanu to Bangomunda in a four-wheeler on the pretext of taking to Mahasmund. During their ride, the two of them got into an argument. Sachin flew into a rage and fired three rounds of bullet at Tany from his pistol. He then disposed of her body at a forest in Turekela and in order to destroy evidence, poured petrol over her body. Police during investigation found that the pistol was registered in the name of one Suraj Sagarwal. Later both Sachin and Suraj were arrested after the latter confessed to their crime, informed Kantabanji SDPO Lakshmi Narayan Marndi.

A case of un-natural death has been registered and the accused will be produced in court, he added.
