Chopped body parts of mentally challenged man recovered in Odisha’s Balangir

Balangir: In a chilling incident, decomposed body of a man, cut into several parts, was recovered by police from a house in Balangir district of Odisha here today. The deceased was identified as Rinku Meher of Salepalli in Balangir town.  He was reportedly mentally challenged. His body was recovered from the house of one Markand Meher from the same area.

As per reports, a foul smell was emanating from Markand Meher’s house in the morning. Markand was living with his wife and two sons in a rented place. Suspecting foul play, villagers informed police. On finding the house closed, the cops broke open the lock and went inside where they stumbled upon the decomposed, severed body. While the torso was lying on one side, the hands, limbs and head were found at another place, all packed in seven black polythene bags.

Preliminary investigation revealed that Rinku was suffering from mental health issues since the last four years. He was staying with his parents and younger brother but of late, was staying at a rented place. Sources said a few days back, Rinku had brutally assaulted his father who was currently undergoing treatment at Burla and since three days, there had been no whereabouts of him.

While the exact reason behind his death has not been established yet, kin of the deceased have alleged murder. Meanwhile, official sources said

The body was recovered after arrival of the scientific team and a case has been registered. Investigation is underway, police informed.
