Commissionerate Police to take IFS officer Pathak on remand over fraud charge

Bhubaneswar: The Twin City Commissionerate Police will take suspended IFS officer Abhay Kant Pathak on remand for two days in connection with fraud allegation levelled against him by travel agency Sky King.

The Court of SDJM, Bhubaneswar allowed the Commissionerate Police for 2-day remand of the bureaucrat. Earlier, the police had taken his son Akash Pathak on remand for questioning in the case.

As per the complaint lodged by the travel agency with Kharavela Nagar police, Akash, impersonating himself as the managing director of Tata Motors Limited, had booked charter flight tickets and luxury accommodation in five star hotels through Sky King at the cost of Rs 2.78 crore, of which he had paid Rs 2.13 crore and the remaining dues amounting to Rs 65,16,233 are still pending.

The father-son duo was on November 27 arrested by the Odisha Vigilance on charges of accumulating assets worth crores disproportionate to their known sources of income.
