Cyclone formation by May 25! Check Odisha rainfall forecast, wind warning

Several parts of Odisha are likely to experience thunderstorm/ rainfall on May 25 and 26. Worth mentioning, the third phase of twin polls in Odisha will be held on May 25.

Bhubaneswar: A cyclonic storm is likely to form over Bay of Bengal by the morning of May 25, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasted today.

On the other hand, several parts of Odisha are likely to experience thunderstorm/ rainfall on May 25 and 26. Worth mentioning, the third phase of twin polls in Odisha will be held on May 25.

As per the agency, a cyclonic storm is likely to form over east-central Bay of Bengal by 25th May morning. Subsequently, it would move nearly northwards and reach near Bangladesh and adjoining West Bengal coasts by 26th May evening as a severe cyclonic storm.

Rainfall forecast for Odisha

May 25: Thunderstorm with lightning accompanied with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 KMPH very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Keonjhar, and Mayurbhanj.

May 26: Thunderstorm with lightning accompanied with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 KMPH very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Keonjhar, and Mayurbhanj.

Heavy to very heavy rainfall likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore and heavy rainfall likely at one or two places over the districts of Bhadrak, and Kendrapara.

Wind warning for Odisha

Squally wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph is likely along and off adjoining north Odisha coast from 25th May evening.
