Districts, Municipal Corporations in Odisha asked to start near-to-home Covid vaccination centres

Bhubaneswar: The Health and Family Welfare Department today asked District Collectors, Municipal Commissioners, CDMOs and PHOs to begin near-to-home Covid vaccination centres (NHCVC).

Additional Chief Secretary of the department PK Mohapatra in a letter to the officials directed them to start planning for smooth execution of near-to-home CVCs in their respective districts and municipal corporations.

After the National Expert Group on Covid vaccination (NEGVAC) objected to the door to door vaccination for elderly and differently abled citizens, the near-to-home CVC has been planned for their vaccination.

As per the strategy, NHCVC follows a Community based approach where sessions can be conducted nearer to home for example at Community Centre, Resident Welfare Association Centre, Group Housing Society Centre, Panchayat Building, School Building etc, the letter read.

Worth mentioning, the Covid vaccination was started on January 16, 2021.
