Elephant tramples man to death in Odisha’s Sundargarh

Sundargarh: An elephant allegedly trampled a man to death at Gargadbahal village under Baragaon forest range in Sundargarh district of Odisha.

The deceased person has been identified as Hiralal Behera (55).

According to reports, a herd of 30 elephants from Panchara area had entered Gargadbahal village a few days ago. On learning about this, Hiralal went to his farmland fearing possible damage to crops. At the same time, he fell into the clutches of a tusker that picked him up with its trunk and crushed him. The villager died on the spot.

On receiving information, the forest officials rushed to the spot and sent the body to a hospital for post-mortem.
