Ensure precautionary measures to tackle heat wave: Odisha SRC to Collectors

Bhubaneswar: With mercury soaring across the state due to rising temperature, Odisha Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) PK Jena has asked collectors of all districts to ensure precautionary measures for tacking the heat wave situation.

In a letter to all collectors, the SRC has requested them to review and ensure that all precautionary measures to combat the situation are in place and activated.

The official has asked them to emphasize immediate repair of tubewells and piped water supply projects, supply through tankers in habitations facing drinking water scarcity, opening of ‘Paniya Jala Kendras’ at strategic locations, special arrangements in hospitals/dispensaries, PHCs/CHCs for treatment of heat stroke patients, taking care of animal resources, restricting the work hours of labourers, etc.

The collectors will send regular updates to the SRC about the situation and preparedness of the administration to mitigate the heat wave situation in their respective districts.
