Houses, farmlands inundated after breach in Indravati South Canal in Odisha

Phulbani: A 20-feet breach in the Indravati South Canal inundated many houses and agricultural fields in Depur village under Kalampur block of Odisha’s Kandhamal district, last night.

The incident caused severe inconvenience for the residents of the area as water flooded their houses while they were sleeping. Being panic-stricken, they rushed out of their houses.

Reports indicate damage to household belongings, furniture, and standing crops.

With the village submerged, the inhabitants sought refuge outdoors on higher ground during the night.
