IMD issues Yellow Warning for thunderstorm, lightning in Odisha districts during next three days

Bhubaneswar: Due to prevalent monsoon trough and cyclonic circulation, thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places in nine Odisha districts during next 24 hours. India Meteorological Department (IMD) today issued Yellow Warning in some districts for next 3 days.

In its evening bulletin, the IMD regional centre mentioned, “The cyclonic circulation over Bihar now lies over south Bihar and neighbourhood extending up to 1.5 Km above mean sea level with a trough aloft roughly along Latitude 88°E to the north of 22°N at 3.1 Km above mean sea level.”

Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at many places over the districts of North Odisha and at a few places over the districts of South Odisha.

The highest maximum temperature of 35.0oC was recorded at Paralakhemundi and the lowest minimum temperature of 23.0oC was recorded at Phulbani and Nabarangpur in the plains of Odisha.

Yellow Warning (Be Updated)- Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur and Dhenkanal.

For Monday (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 07.08.2023 to 0830 hrs IST of 08.08.2023)

Yellow Warning (Be Updated)- Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur and Kendrapara.
