IMD predicts heavy rainfall in these Odisha districts for next 4 days

Bhubaneswar: The IMD has predicted heavy rainfall in several districts of Odisha during the next four days.

According to the IMD, several districts in South interior Odisha and North interior Odisha witnessed light to moderate rain or thunderstorm during the last 24 hours.

Dabugaon, Umarkote, Jharigaon, Raighar, Tentulikhunti and Nandahandi in Nabarangpur; Pottangi and Bandhugaon in Koraput; Thuamula Rampur, Jaipatna and Bhawanipatna in Kalahandi; Deogaon in Jharsuguda; Chitrakonda in Malkangiri; and Bijepur in Bargarh witnesses rain in last 24 hours, said IMD regional centre chief HR Biswas today.

June 22: As per the prediction, heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj on June 22.

Similarly, Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Balasore, Cuttack and Khurda on the day.

This apart, light to moderate rain is very likely to occur at many places over the districts of Odisha on June 22, said the IMD.

June 23: The IMD has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall at one or two places over the districts of Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Jagatsinghpur and Kendrapara and heavy rainfall at one or two places over the districts of Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal, Kalahandi and Jajpur on June 23.

Besides, light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at most places over the districts of South Odisha and at many places over the districts of North Odisha on the day, said the IMD in its weather bulletin today.

June 24: Heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Cuttack, Angul, Dhenkanal and Boudh on June 24, said the IMD.

Similarly, heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Khurda, Nayagarh, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Sonepur, Sambalpur, Deogarh and Koraput on the day.

Besides, most places over the districts of Odisha are likely to witness light to moderate rain or thundershower on June 24.

June 25: As per the IMD forecast, heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely lash one or two places over the districts of Sambalpur, Bargarh, Sonepur, Bolangir, Sundargarh, Deogarh and Keonjhar on June 25.

One or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Angul, Jharsuguda, Dhenkanal, Boudh, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Nuapada and Nabarangpur are likely to witness heavy rainfall on the day.

Moreover, light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at most places over the districts of Odisha on June 25.

“The condition is favourable for advancement of monsoon to some districts of Odisha in the next two-three days,” said Biswas.
