Man starts ‘barking’ after six months of dog bite in Odisha’s Cuttack
The victim was identified as Rajesh Beura from Udeipur village under Athagarh police limits. Sources said Rajesh was bitten by a dog six months back but did not avail medical treatment after that.
Cuttack: In a bizarre incident, a man started barking like a dog months after being bitten by a canine in Athagarh in Cuttack district of Odisha, a video of which has gone viral on social media.
However, to everyone’s shock, he suddenly started making sounds like a dog a few days back. As his symptoms got severe, family members rushed him to a nearby hospital. But when his condition did not improve, he was shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital.
In the video clip, Rajesh is seen howling and making unnatural sounds and movements while his family members struggle to keep him under control in the hospital. Medical experts say this is a clear case of rabies.
According to doctors, in cases of humans getting infected after dog bite, they develop hydrophobia or acute fear of water. So much so that they cannot even stand the sound of water. One of the associate symptoms also includes Laryngospasm which makes the patient howl due to spasms in throat.
