Miscreants loot Rs 40 lakh, gold from Union Bank in Odisha’s Balasore

Balasore: A group of miscreants allegedly looted around Rs 40 lakh and gold ornaments from Union Bank of India at Chandaneswar in Jaleswar area of Odisha’s Balasore district, today.

According to reports, around 7-8 armed miscreants entered the bank posing as customers at around 1 PM.

Later, they threatened the bank employees and customers at gunpoint, and locked them inside a room.

The wrongdoers then looted the cash and gold mortgaged by loanees. They fled the place after committing the robbery.

On being informed, police rushed to the spot and rescued the bank staffers and customers.

Cops were examining the CCTV footage to identify the looters. Efforts were on by them to trace and apprehend the accused.

It is being suspected that the robbers went towards West Bengal after the loot.
