Odisha: 2 youths missing; murder suspected after motorcycle, blood stains found near Blue Lake

Nilagiri: Two youths left their houses together yesterday evening for some personal work and later went missing. However, their families suspected murder after a motorcycle belonging to one of them was found parked near Blue Lake of Mitrapur under Nilagiri block in Balasore, early today morning.

Blood stains and chappals were also spotted near the motorcycle suggesting murder, a cop said.

The youths are Manoranjan Mohapatra and his associate Sipu from Kansa locality of the district.

According to Manoranjan’s elder brother, the two youths left home at around 5.30 PM and did not return by night. At around 10.00 PM, the worried family members contacted him over his mobile phone but to no avail, as it showed ‘switched off’. The next morning they heard about the motorcycle.

“After I reached here, I saw that the motorcycle of my younger brother was parked. Blood stains spotted in nearby areas raised my suspicion that he has been killed,” Soumyaranjan Mohapatra stated.

“Someone has killed my brother and thrown him into the water body,” Soumyaranjan expressed.

On being informed, a team of local police along with the dog squad, ODRAF, and scientific personnel reached the spot and launched a probe. A frantic search was initiated in Blue Lake to locate the youths.
