Odisha: CM releases Rs 900 Crore KALIA assistance to over 44 lakh farmers on Nuakhai

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today released a total of Rs 900 crore as KALIA assistance money to around 44.56 lakh farmers in Odisha, the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) said.

According to the source, the Chief Minister released Rs 2,000 to each of the farmer family’s bank account through video conferencing for Rabi crops, on the occasion of Nuakhai agrarian festival. This includes 43.88 lakh small and marginal farmers and 68.750 thousand landless farmers.

The CM wished all farmers for Nuakhai saying that the farmers are the pride of the State. “I want all farmer families in my State should live a decent life with grace and dignity. Farmers must be made a part of enjoying the benefits of development. Around Rs 12,500 crore has so far been paid to the farmer families in Odisha under KALIA scheme,” the CM expressed.

“I want children of the farmer families should become doctors, engineers and also join other good professions in life; so that, they will bring fame for their families and the State,” the CM added.

Worth mentioning, the State government has been providing scholarships to the children of eligible farmer families who are getting assistance money through KALIA scheme.
