Odisha: IMD predicts fresh spell of rain, thunderstorm with lightning from August 7

Bhubaneswar: Due to prevalent monsoon trough and low pressure, thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places in the districts of Odisha from August 7. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) today issued Yellow Warning in some districts for the same period.

In its mid-day bulletin, the IMD regional centre mentioned, “Low Pressure Area over northeast Madhya Pradesh and neighbourhood with the associated cyclonic circulation extending up to 7.6 Km above mean sea level persists. The Monsoon Trough at mean sea level now passes through Bhatinda, Jind, Meerut, Hardoi, center of Low Pressure Area over northeast Madhya Pradesh and neighbourhood, Shantiniketan and Mizoram across Bangladesh.”

The highest maximum temperature of 34.6oC was recorded at Paralakhemundi and the lowest minimum temperature of 22.6oC was recorded at Angul in the plains of Odisha.
