Odisha: Koraput Police arrest three youths from Bihar in online fraud case

Besides nabbing the trio, police have also recovered Rs 1.5 lakh cash, one laptop, 14 mobiles and three passbooks from their possession. 

Koraput: In a crackdown, Cyber Crime police personnel of Odisha’s Koraput district  have arrested three youths from Bihar for their alleged involvement in an online fraud. The accused were identified as Bhola Prasad (46), Gourav Kumar (23) and Vikas Kumar (23) of Chakbai village in Nawada district of Bihar. Besides nabbing the trio, police have also recovered Rs 1.5 lakh cash, one laptop, 14 mobiles and three passbooks from their possession.

As per reports, the Cyber Crime team moved to Bihar  to carry out the raid following directions by SP, Koraput. During course of investigation, one of the accused’s mobile numbers was found activated. With the help from Warsaliganj police, the Cyber Crime team tracked the whereabouts of the three youths and arrested them. While police in a release informed that the online fraud was to the tune of Rs 4 lakh, sources said the amount duped from people across the country could be nearly Rs 1 crore.

Addressing mediapersons, SDPO Koraput Sharbani Nayak and IIC Cyber Crime confirmed the raid and said efforts are on to track down others involved in the racket. Further investigation is underway.
