Odisha revises norms for vaccine makers to participate in its global tender

Bhubaneswar: In order to give more vaccine manufacturers chance to participate in the global tender floated by the Odisha government, the Odisha State Medical Corporation Ltd (OSMCL), a government of Odisha undertaking, made some amendments in a clause of the tender.

As per the amendments, vaccine manufacturers or their authorized importers of Covid-19 vaccine approved by USFDA (the United States Food and Drug Administration) or EMA (the European Medicines Agency) or MHRA (Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency, UK) or PMDA (Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Agency, Japan) or listed by WHO (World Health Organization) for emergency use are eligible to bid for the global tender. The OSMCL added the bidders must submit the supporting documents regarding the regulatory body approval.

Earlier the bid document mentioned under the Clause 5.2.2 that the approval of the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) is mandatory for the bidders before participating in the bidding process.

Apart from this, the respective bidder as detailed at Clause no 5.2.1 were asked to submit the appropriate valid supporting documents.

The OSMCL further stated purchase orders for Covid vaccine will be placed to the qualified bidders subject to approval of DCGI.

It added all other terms and conditions of the tender shall remain same.
